2012 FGR Midalu, a V6-powered Naked Bike

1-20-2011

by Michel Deslauriers , moto123.com

Six years in the making, the Midalu 2500 V6 is the Czech motorcycle racing team Moto FGR’s upcoming road bike built with the best available components and using innovative development solutions.

With the financial help of the Czech Republic Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Midalu project started way back in 2005. What sets this bike apart is its 2.4-litre V6, which FGR claims is the world’s largest motorbike engine.

Displacing 2,442cc, the four-stroke, 24-valve V6 develops 240 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. The engine redlines at 8,500 rpm, features six exhaust outlets and delivers a fuel consumption average of 6.8 L/100 km.

A competition was set up to find a designer that would take care of the Midalu’s styling. The winner, Stanislav Hanus, was eventually chosen out of a field of 45 participants in early 2009 and took a year to create the shape of the bike.

Further testing will be performed this year, and the first models should reach production sometime in 2012.
