Speed and motorcycle enthusiasts got their money's worth during the first round of the 2011 Parts Canada Superbike Championship, which took place at ICAR in Mirabel, Quebec last weekend.

La Belle Province's largest superbike event was filled with spectacular battles on the track. In addition to practice laps and qualifying sessions, fans in attendance got to see the riders and their mechanics prepare for an all-out war on one of the most beautiful racing venues in the country. Six different classes were on the menu as well.

In the CBR125 Challenge, Stacey Nesbitt showed the necessary patience and skills to win a race under the rain. For the first-ever XR 1200 Series race on Canadian soil, Steve Crevier and Darren James stood out as expected, but the young Matechuk took home the trophy after an intense duel with Crevier to the very end.

Professional superbike riders also put on quite a show. Jordan Szoke's Kawasaki still needs some fine-tuning yet proved good enough for third place, Francis Martin tried to do too much and fell off his bike in the last lap, highly-talented Andrew Nelson rode his BMW S1000RR to second place and Brett McCormick crossed the finish line with a one-second lead over the field. The Kid from Saskatoon proved that he and his BMW are now ready to win the championship.

Next stops: Shannonville, ON in June and St. Eustache, QC in July.
