For 2010, Arctic Cat is beefing up is utility ATV range with the launch of two new models designed for the muddiest trails, and a new 450cc utility machine in the medium-displacement segment (450 to 550 cc) that’s becoming increasingly popular here.

The new Mud Pro 1000 H2 is a towering monster powered by a 951-cc, twin-cylinder engine.

A monster in the stable
After introducing the very first production ATV designed specifically for muddy trails last year, the Mud Pro 700 H1, the Thief River Falls company is now upstaging itself with the new Mud Pro 1000 H2, a towering monster powered by a 951-cc, twin-cylinder engine. The Pro 1000 H2 arrives with 12-inch aluminum wheels and Outlaw MST tires created for deep mud competition.

The Mud Pro 1000 H2 features an elevated air intake that sends clean air to the engine in all conditions, as well as an electronic injection system that maximizes torque. The four-wheel independent suspension pays with 254 mm of travel and 365 mm of ground clearance, a 77-mm increase over the Thundercat 1000 H2 utility machine that served as a basis for the big Mud Pro.

Arctic Cat is also launching an entry-level mud hog this year. The Mud Pro 650 H1 benefits from the same features as its big brothers: long-travel suspension, generous ground clearance, Outlaw MST tires and a snorkel air intake. To keep the sales price to a minimum, the machine is shod in steel wheels and its single-cylinder, 641-cc mill uses a carburetor. Arctic Cat is asking $10,299 for it, $1,500 less than for the more powerful, fuel-injected Mud Pro 750 H1 EFI.

This special Mud Pro line from Arctic Cat will certainly please dyed in the wool fans of steep and sticky trails.

A new engine
The new year also sees the arrival of the new 450 H1 EFI powered by Arctic Cat’s latest engine, the 4-valve, 443-cc, liquid-cooled H1 with electronic fuel injection. The firm’s designers slipped it into the 550 H1 EFI chassis, the very one that has played a big part in the success of Arctic Cat’s utility lineup since 2002.

The new year also sees the arrival of the new 450 H1 EFI.
