2009 Montreal Motorcycle Show Recap

2-23-2009

by moto123.com

According to exhibitors, the 32,384 visitors at the 2009 Montreal Motorcycle Show were very interested in the new models and latest technologies. The event was marked by a growing number of street-legal, three-wheel vehicles, a plethora of scooters (including electric ones) as well as an impressive range of motorcycles designed to meet the needs of increasingly demanding consumers and enthusiasts.

The 2009 Montreal Motorcycle Show, which ended last Sunday at Palais des Congrès, proved to be a success despite an 11-percent drop in attendance from last year.

Director Roger Saint-Laurent says the situation can be largely attributed to the fact there were no more deliveries on site. "This new policy allows consumers to make transactions but not to actually leave with their acquisitions. For now, it's the only variable we've identified. The Quebec Show, meanwhile, recorded the same number of visitors as last year."

As for the upcoming season, premium dealers foresee a repeat of 2008, meaning profitable months lie ahead. Entry-level brands expect a significant rise in scooter sales, a slight growth for cruiser and touring motorcycles as well as a continued drop in sportbike sales. Overall, 2009 will likely be another successful season.

For riders and enthusiasts, the wait is almost over. In 4-5 weeks, it will be motorcycling time once again!
