The XV1900 Custom S offers a stretched though reasonable riding position as well as a decent level of comfort, especially with the wide, well-designed seat and the nicely-calibrated suspension. The latter is just firm enough to allow sporty riding; sway is limited during emergency braking maneuvers, which enhances rider safety. On damaged roads, the suspension sometimes feels a bit dry; that's the price you have to pay. The high-rising fuel tank and fork head provide some protection against the elements, making highway rides less taxing. The instrument panel is comprehensive and includes a fuel gauge and even a tachometer.

This Yamaha will certainly lure customers away from well-established cruisers.

While the XV1900 Custom S is not the easiest to ride in the Yamaha lineup, it definitely deserves its spot atop the Star family. From the ground up, it's the shiniest star you'll find.
