2008 Zero X Motorcycles sold out

9-27-2008

by moto123.com

Zero Motorcycles is a leading manufacturer of electric motorcycles, and they're planning to announce 'sold out' status of their 2008 Zero X electric motorcycle at this year's Alternative Energy and Transportation (Alt Car) Expo.

The company says it's a landmark moment for the electric vehicle and green movement- though it's left a lineup of customers waiting for the 2009 model which begins shipping next month. A pre-production example of the all-electric 2009 dirt-bike will be displayed at Alt Car expo as well.

"Zero Motorcycles is excited to unveil the 09 Zero X pre-production model at the Alt Car Expo because it's the perfect venue to share our products' evolution," said Neal Saiki, inventor and founder of Zero Motorcycles. "After the hugely successful launch of the 08 Zero X dirt bike, we challenged many of our current customers and industry experts to suggest ways to make it even better. All of this culminated with the latest upgrades reflected in our 09 version."

The upgrades Saiki mentions include a beefier drivetrain, more aggressive brakes and suspension components to help tackle more challenging riding opportunities. The Zero X uses a 23 horsepower electric motor and lithium-ion technology, and can keep pace with a conventionally powered 250 cc off-road motocycle.

The Alt Car Expo will take place at The Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, September 26 and 27.
