2007 Suzuki Burgman 650 Executive Road Test

7-1-2007

I particularly liked the power-adjustable windshield: it offers a nice protection to the driver and when you relax the throttle, you quickly benefit from a fresh air influx without having to endure major turbulences. Also, I was little affected by the wind sway generated by incoming trailer trucks. At high speeds, the wind noise intensifies considerably, though stability is never compromised.

The height of the windshield can be adjusted at the simple pressure of a button.

Kudos to the ABS brakes
The ABS brakes of the Executive model allow powerful and safe stops. In normal situations, I was able to come to a full stop from 100 km/h over less than 34 metres on average. Once, I had to brake very abruptly to avoid a reckless driver who didn't seem to know where he was going -- I'm telling you, the ABS saved me. Panicked at first, I firmly applied the brakes and immobilized the scooter. However, I planted my feet a second too late and, due to the sudden weight transfer, I had to support the entire 238 kilos of the 650 on one leg. As it turned out, I had no other choice but to gently lay down the bike on its side, which resulted in a few minor scratches on the frame. Sorry.

In conclusion
The 2007 Burgman 650 Executive can rival a lot of touring motorcycles while offering superior comfort. With a powerful engine and a comfortable ride, this Suzuki is the benchmark for all full-size scooters. At $11,899, it may not be the most affordable, but its performance and comfort are enough to conquer the heart of any potential buyer. In my mind, the Burgman 650 targets intermediate riders or touring riders.
