A rainy weekend in Paris means not a lot of riding and little opportunity to take pictures of my latest test machine, the Yamaha WR250X, a Supermotard version of the WR250R dual-purpose machine. The X has the heart of a Street Warrior once you learn to keep the revs way up there, sneaking around town splitting lanes (illegal but tolerated over here), and cruising easily at 130 km/h. I even saw 141 km/h despite my 110-kg air dam physique.


I would like a slightly wider and flatter seat to accommodate my rear and set myself more comfortably, but other than that, this is the urban fun tool on a budget that can turn city commutes into a fun event, as well as go like hell on twisty roads and short tracks.

I will get another Yam on Monday and Tuesday (Report on Wednesday), then fly to Austria for a taste of the local “Orange” machinery.
