The 2015 Can-Am Maverick X ds leads the pack as the most powerful two-seater sport side-by-side in the industry thanks to its new turbocharged engine option (1000R Turbo). This is complemented by a rider-focused design and impressive handling.

All about that beast
Boosting the performance of the proven, mid-mounted Rotax 1000R engine with the industry's first factory-installed turbocharger enables the Maverick X ds to produce an outstanding 121 hp. The electronically controlled wastegate automatically adjusts boost pressure for optimal performance in any condition and even maintains full performance at altitudes up to 5,000ft.
Paired to the turbo is a large, high-flow Donaldson airbox plus an air-to-air intercooler with built-in fan to keep lots of cooled air flowing to the engine even in the most demanding conditions. Low-pressure forged pistons were added for extra longevity, while the new high-capacity injectors ensure better fuel delivery to improve performance.
The CVT was also reconfigured to account for the increased power of the turbocharged engine. It features a completely redesigned driven pulley with a new Quick Response System (QRS) and an improved drive pulley. The new design reduces friction, providing an instant response and an optimum belt clamping for better power transfer, the company explains. Obviously, BRP's ride-by-wire Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC) system is part of the package, as well.
Power to the ground
Both the double A-arm front suspension and the Torsional Trailing A-arms (TTA) rear suspension were redesigned for more controlled wheel movement, optimum bump absorption and tire-to-ground contact for predictable handling. They provide 15” and 16” of travel, respectively. And since pure sport side-by-sides demand high-performance shocks, the 2015 Can-Am Maverick X ds features exclusive FOX 2.5 Podium RC2 shocks with adjustments for Dual-Speed Compression (DSC), rebound and dual rate spring with infinite preload allowing users to fine-tune the system for any driving style, terrain, or course conditions.
This machine rides on 14” performance beadlock wheels shod in 28” Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 tires that feature sturdy lugs and a non-directional tread pattern for a smooth and confident ride. Despite a long, 88” wheelbase, handling promises to be sharp and precise thanks to a 3-mode Dynamic Power Steering (DPS) system with a quick ratio making for a short turning radius.
Finally, a short note about the premium cockpit, which offers race-inspired bucket seats with a full backrest, lumbar and shoulder support, and side bolsters to keep a snug fit during aggressive riding. At the same time, the multiple seating adjustments, 10” tilt steering, ergonomically positioned passenger handbars, and generous interior space should provide loads of comfort.
Bottom line
For riders who desperately want to stand out and lead the way, the 2015 Can-Am Maverick X ds with the 1000R Turbo option is available in two striking colour schemes including White/Light Grey/Manta Green ($24,949) and Carbon Black/Manta Green ($25,999).
