Mazda says that revisions to the engine computer programming and transmission aim to make better use of the engine's output as well. Ratios in gears 2 through 5 have been stretched to optimize torque delivery, and the low-speed torque-management system has been relaxed as well. A limited slip differential is standard, helping minimize burnouts and maximize traction.

Helping to ensure transmission of the Mazdaspeed3's power to the road (or tracks) surface is a new, stiffer and more rigid body structure. By reinforcing key parts of the model's unibody platform, the automaker was able to employ stiffer suspension tuning without compromising ride comfort.
The 2010 Mazdaspeed3 boasts stiffer springs with higher damping rates, as well as revised stabilizer bar mounting points that reduce bushing deflection and increase the bar's effectiveness. In plain English, this machine should set an example for handling in a front-drive performance car. Wider tires help complete the package.
On the braking front, look for 12.6-inch ventilated front disc brakes and 11-inch rear solid discs fitted with standard ABS and brake assist. A stability control system is also included on all models.
Look for the 2010 Mazdaspeed3 on sale later this year.
