With the previous generation WRX commonly deemed a little overpriced, the new model carries a much appreciated lowered MSRP. This coupled with additional room and an improved ride increase its value equation considerably, and make it a real contender in the low-$30K price-range. There are several faster and more powerful cars available for the money, but none with all wheel drive.

The WRX offers great performance without sacrificing practicality.

A cold-blooded performer
Subaru's Symmetrical AWD system is totally invisible and seamless to the driver. There's no switches or decisions to make- it's simply always on, always ready to extract traction from any road surface in any season. Unlike some systems, the Symmetrical setup doesn't react to a loss of traction, but rather helps prevent it by maintaining a 50 / 50 split between front and rear power delivery in normal situations.

Long story short, WRX drivers are treated to fantastic performance year-round, but they can confidently keep plans, even if the weather plans on not co-operating. For a year round family sports car, it just makes sense.
