Honda finally offers a first large-displacement adventure-type tourer to Canadians. After conquering the entire Europe, the highly popular XLV 1000 Varadero is landing on our shores, much to the delight of unbound long-distance riding enthusiasts.

The XLV 1000 is one of the biggest machines in its class. Adventure-type motorcycles are increasingly popular over here, so it comes as no surprise that Honda chose to bring the legendary Varadero to our market.

Refined to the max
In terms of ergonomics, the XLV 1000 is extremely well executed. The controls are intuitively positioned and easy to manipulate. Like most rivals, this Honda boasts a 838-mm seat height and, with a massive, cleverly-designed front fairing, it will no doubt offer excellent protection against the elements.

For 2008, the main flaws of the Euro-spec model have been solved for the most part. The instrument panel now includes a digital display above the speedometer and tachometer, providing data on real-time fuel consumption and range countdown. There are also two daily trip meters, an odometer as well as an engine temperature gauge. Finally, the XLV 1000 gets a lockable storage bin that only opens with the ignition key.

Beauty and luxury
The style of the Varadero has now become a classic. This bike has a majestic look and luxurious feel while conveying a certain sense of aggressiveness. The turn signals integrated to the rear brake light give it a more modern appearance. In addition, the new cargo rack includes a pair of handles for the passenger.
