Key word: rigidity The new mesh frame is extremely rigid -- or so say engineers. The tubes have grown from 28 to 34 millimeters in diameter, while their shell is 0.5-millimeter thinner. The result is a 14-percent stiffer, 1.5-kilogram lighter frame. The 848 also boasts a number of exclusive features like five-spoke Marchesini wheels, a 43-mm fully-adjustable Showa inverted fork and a Showa single shock linked to an aluminum swingarm. With such strength and rigidity, riders will enjoy extraordinary control and efficiency in all conditions.
The little 848 mimics the big 1098 while delivering breathtaking performance levels in a package that's downright more accessible and rider-friendly. The unique components added for 2008 easily justify the price for this magnificent stallion.
