Suzuki, Blackfoot, Martin and Picotte team up

11-21-2006

by Flagworld

"I have a lot of respect for Blackfoot Suzuki and what they've accomplished," said the St-Cecile Milton, Que. racer. "This should be a very powerful team. I think Suzuki has a great package. They've had the best 1000cc bike for the past three or four years and they have a great ability to market. I think they will complete my package.

Under the arrangement Picotte will operate the race team out of his Quebec base using his existing crew, including engine builder Paul Fournier, while Calgary-based Blackfoot will handle the marketing and promotion of the race program.

I think this combination is going to work very well," said Pat Chambers of Blackfoot Motosports. "I think Pascal has an ability to set up a motorcycle better than anyone else in the country, and he has a very clear view of what he wants. Paul Fournier is the best in Canada at what he does. From Blackfoot's perspective it works very well. Pascal's image is such that, when backed up with solid marketing it will bring in sponsorship."

The 32-year-old Martin will return for his second straight year with Blackfoot and his third straight with Suzuki Canada. He won the national Superbike title in 2005 under the Diablo and Laval Moto banner and the Rock Forest, Que. native also claimed the Canadian Championship in 1999. He placed fifth in series points last year.
