Canadian Bruno Spengler took his second pole in two years at the Norisring in the DTM series has he one the first of three Mercedes-Benz driver who finished in the top three positions.

Jamie Green and Paul di Resta took second and third respectively.

It's a great opportunity for Spengler to win his third race in a row on the urban circuit as well as taking his first win of the season.

"I'm very happy, it's about time I had a pole position," said Spengler. "My lap was good, I made no mistakes, and now we just have to hope the race goes like this."

Championship leader Timo Scheider was the best of the Audi drivers in fourth.

Martin Tomczyk and Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen will share the third row in their Audis, while Bernd Schneider will line up seventh alongside reigning champion Mattias Ekstrom.
