MotoGP: Lorenzo to go further tests

5-5-2008

by Luc Fradette

Fiat Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo, who got injured last Friday during the first free tests session, will have further x-rays on his ankles. Despites his injuries the rookie was able to compete in the Chinese Grand Prix and even managed to finish and astounding fourth.

Lorenzo, who now lies second to Dani Pedrosa in the standings, he's keen to get back to Europe and expect to be in good shape for the next round at Le Mans on May 18.

Meanwhile, as rumours suggested, the Chinese circuit will not be on the calendar next season. Should China be dropped, Hungary could step in with a race at a new circuit being developed near a popular lakeside tourist venue in the centre of the country.

Last weekend's Grand Prix winner, Valentino Rossi, has stated that he would be happy to stay at Yamaha in the future; his current contract expires at the end of the present season.

The five times champion has enjoyed a strong start to the 2008 season, with three podiums in the last three races. Yamaha's form is likely to make any decisions about his future easier.

"Having seen the results, I will probably decide my future soon.," concluded Rossi.
