The maiden edition of new
Legends of Motorsport series for vintage race cars (organised by racing legend Bobby Rahal) was held for the first time at the Mont-Tremblant Circuit on the Quebec Laurentides this past weekend.
Despite the gorgeous weather, the size crowd was a little bit disappointing. This was difficult to explain. Most of the fans were in their 50s, suggesting that they came up to see cars that they saw race in the past. We can understand that the younger people may not fully appreciate the show as they probably don’t know that Lola, Royale, Ginetta, Osella and Titan are actual names given to race cars!

Former World F1 champion Jacques Villeneuve was present and drove a McLaren F1 GTR owned by Lawrence Stroll. However, Villeneuve could have been a little more accessible during the weekend instead of hiding in the Ferrari Quebec transporter. We saw hordes of fans waiting outside the transporter to see their hero, in vain, unfortunately.
But don’t be mistaken: Bobby Rahal’s crew has made a fantastic job. The cars are immaculate and are driven by people of talent. It is an incredible show to watch, and to hear!
It was great to see back in action famed race cars such as a Maserati 250F, the Ferrari 312 T5 of the late Gilles Villeneuve, a 1970 Ferrari 512M of Le Mans, a stunning McLaren M6B Can-Am, a 1965 Ford Mustang and a 1962 Austin.
It was an entertaining weekend of racing with passionate participants who never hesitated to spend time with the fans. See you next year!
