Picked up the bike yesterday and rode across Paris to my friend's place for a snooze.
I did a three hour ride today, and understood why this is British marque's best selling machine: torque in a mid-sized standard, or should I say Cafe Racer, as the bike is a little of both - agile in the city, but also at home on twisting secondary roads.
I must say that the tight saddle is more comfortable at speed than running slowly, as the slope pushes you forward against the fuel tank - not a good thing for a rider with a belly like mine. Overall, the Street R gets the job done in a very entertaining package.
Tomorrow, I pick up the fearsome Speed Triple. You will see my first impressions on the beast on Friday, and a more complete report on both machines in the coming weeks.
