Continental will voluntarily recall 1,700 Contimotion rear tires (180/60R16 M/C 74H) installed on Honda Gold Wing 1800 motorcycles. These tires, sold in Canada and the U.S., have been manufactured in 2010 and 2011 (serial numbers ranging from H60LJJE5110 to H60LJJE3811).
In some cases, the rear tire may experience uneven wear, groove cracking and belt separation, which could lead to a sudden loss of air pressure. As a result, the rider may lose control of the motorcycle and suffer a crash.
As Continental does not currently have a replacement tire, owners will be reimbursed the cost of replacing the rear tire with one from another brand.
It should be noted, however, that only 13 units out of the aforementioned 1,700 can be found in Canada.
