Pope Benedict XVI yesterday blessed two commemorative motorcycle gas tanks that will go on two motorcycles – one will be displayed at the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee, while the other will be auctioned to support the Good Samaritan Foundation.
Both tanks will be signed by the Pope as well as Willie G. Davidson, grandson of one of the company's founders, and his son, Bill Davidson, Vice President of the Harley-Davidson Museum.
The blessing ceremony started the countdown to Harley-Davidson’s 110th Anniversary event in Rome (June 13-16, 2013), where tens of thousands of riders and fans are awaited. As part of a year-long, global celebration, 12 anniversary events will take place around the world, capped off by the one in Milwaukee (Aug. 31-Sept. 2, 2013).
