In an attempt to build the ultimate trail ATV, Honda came up with something special, namely the all-new 2015 TRX500 Rubicon DCT IRS EPS, a machine that captures all of the Japanese manufacturer's best trail technology in a single package.
The list of high-tech features is truly impressive: all-new adjustable, long-travel Independent Rear Suspension (IRS), Electric Power Steering (EPS) with trail-specific settings, a new version of Honda's Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) with a new High/Low range sub-transmission and Electric Shift Program (ESP), a 2WD/4WD system with locking front differential, an inboard rear disc brake, new Maxxis tires with an aggressive, trail-ready tread pattern -- it goes on and on.

Adding to its trail credentials, the 2015 Honda TRX500 Rubicon DCT IRS EPS also features a seat that is wider and thicker than previous models; combined with a roomier riding position and ergonomic hand grips, this should make for a very comfortable ATV.
Of course, trail ATVs are occasionally called upon to carry or pull heavy loads, so Honda engineers installed newly designed, higher-rated cargo racks with numerous tie-down points, and increased towing capacity to a hefty 600kg (1,350lb). Other detailed changes that help round out the 2015 Honda TRX500 Rubicon DCT IRS EPS include a powerful 470-watt alternator, a comprehensive electronic dashboard that includes a maintenance reminder, and a clever new one-handed reverse selection mechanism that is simple to use.
On the trails, Honda explains that the low centre of gravity and excellent mass centralization generated by the unique sideways-mounted OHV engine work in harmony with the new power steering system and the independent suspension (with just the right amount of roll stiffness) to create a machine that gives the rider a whole new level of confidence and control. Said engine is a liquid-cooled, 475cc, 4-stroke single-cylinder with Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI).
What more could you ask for? How about a premium styling package that compliments the Rubicon's all-new aggressive, tough-looking bodywork? The TRX500 Rubicon DCT Deluxe has all the same features as the DCT IRS EPS version, but adds lightweight aluminum wheels, red-painted shock springs, red-painted suspension arms, and a unique black colour scheme. Factor in Honda durability, quality and reliability, and your trail adventures should be quite stress-free and memory-laden.
The 2015 Honda TRX500 Rubicon DCT IRS EPS starts at $10,499.
