Cute, unadorned, and retro-looking: You'll love to straddle the all-new 2015 Ducati Scrambler as much as putting on high-fashion clothes. It's a masterpiece on two wheels that can also deliver plenty of unique thrills.

Resurrecting a name that was used in the '60s and '70s to designate its first dirt bikes, Ducati is trying to capture the same dynamic and delinquent spirit without causing too much harm to your wallet. Actually, the Italian manufacturer unveiled not one, but four Scrambler models at the International Motorcycle, Scooter and E-Bike Fair in Cologne last fall:
  • Scrambler Icon with a steel teardrop tank and interchangeable aluminum side panels, a glass headlight with LED guide-light, an LED taillight, 18” front and 17” rear wheels, as well as an LCD instrument panel.
  • Scrambler Urban Enduro equipped with aluminum wheels, a brown seat with a ribbed design, an off-road handlebar with cross bar, fork protectors, a higher front mudguard, aluminum engine covers, and specific badging.
  • Scrambler Full Throttle highlighted by a low, tapered handlebar, a flat-track inspired seat, a short front mudguard, black side panels with dedicated graphics, a sporty tail, and a Termignoni racing exhaust homologated for road use.
  • Scrambler Classic featuring lots of retro touches including brushed aluminum mudguards, spoked wheels, and a brown seat with diamond-shaped inserts.
All four models use an air-cooled engine derived from older Ducati Monsters, namely the iconic 803cc L-twin with Desmodromic valve timing that produces 75 hp at 8,250 rpm. Acceleration promises to be nearly effortless considering the Scrambler's dry weight of just 170kg (186kg with all tanks full). This was made possible by extensive use of aluminum and a tubular trellis frame. Power goes through a 6-speed transmission with chain final drive.

Premium parts as usual
The chassis of the 2015 Ducati Scrambler incorporates a 41mm upside-down Kayaba fork up front and a left-mounted Kayaba shock with preload adjustment in the rear. The brakes consist of a single 320mm front disc with 4-piston radial calliper and a 245mm rear disc with single-piston floating calliper (ABS comes standard). Seat height is a low 790mm.

In addition to offering four variants, the new 2015 Ducati Scrambler leaves plenty of room for customization. Through a wide selection of accessories and related products, this bike can be tailored to each and every individual need and want. Riders who crave vintage European models will be delighted.
