2010 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet Review

Now keep in mind that this baby comes pretty well loaded even in a base model. Standard full leather interior, Porsche Stability Management (PSM), ABS, full climate control, front, head and thorax airbags, fully electric seats, MP3-capable CD player and Bose sound system.

If you want to save yourself a bit of money, stick to the 6-speed manual transmission. I may be dating myself a bit but I still love driving a manual transmission!

Don’t get me wrong, this PDK is fantastic and a huge improvement over Porsches old 5-speed Tiptronic S. The PDK is unbelievable on the track – able to shift faster and smoother than any human can. It also is incredibly drivable in the city for everyday cruising.

I drove the Audi R8 last year and fell in love (another one of my personal dream cars) but the automatic transmission was not that great for everyday driving. I know that these cars are meant for speed and the track, but most owners still predominantly use this car as a daily mode of transport.

When you have this 911 in ‘D’ it always starts in second gear. As the light in front of me turns from red to green, I put my foot on the gas and I am off with power and ease! The shifts are smooth and quick in this position to help ensure that you get the maximum fuel efficiency and a truly comfortable ride. Honestly, if I had spent this much money on this car – economy wouldn’t be a word on my mind. I would drive it in the ‘M’ position with sport mode on all the time.

With the PDK gear shift comfortably located at the tips of your fingers in the centre console, or using the paddles behind the wheel I love driving this car the most when I can get the revs up and really feel the power that this engine puts out. I love it even more when I pull up next to gentleman driving a Cayman – He glances at me and I am not sure if he realizes that I have 500 horses purring under my hood as he tries pull away first! This car feels so sexy to drive!

This year, upgraded exterior styling includes LED running lights. (Photo: Lacey Elliott/Auto123.com)
