Focusing entirely on a sporty drive, the handling is not at all impaired by the front mid-engine layout. The suspension maintains its exemplary stiffness in corners without sapping occupant comfort, particularly due to the new two-link, double-wishbone front configuration with sub-frame. And the front end tolerates no understeer whatsoever: Nissan did its homework where driving dynamics are concerned. The brakes are still firm, but the ABS is always too quick to jump in.

The Boxster is obviously an exceptional car, but is that enough to withstand the final weapon in Nissan’s arsenal, the price? The basic Boxster can be had from $59,985 compared to $48,548 for the 370Z Roadster. So, Porsche or Nissan? I can’t decide! At the very least, the 370Z has all the firepower it needs to wage a very long war indeed.
