2010 Chevrolet Camaro Preview

3-24-2009

by Robert Obara , Auto123.com

All 2010 Camaros will be fitted with a true dual exhaust with dual catalytic converters. All models except the automatic-powered V6 also feature a limited-slip differential.

Outside, the sharp stylistic lines of the 2006 Camaro Concept have been held true to production. All models have a 2.5-inch power dome on their aluminum hoods. Eighteen-inch steel wheels are standard on the base LS, 18-inch aluminum wheels are standard on the LT (with 19s optional), and 20-inch wheels on wide summer tires are standard on the SS. An optional RS appearance package is available on the LT and SS, and includes wheel upgrades and sharp xenon headlights subset in angel-eye halos.

The MSRP ranges from $26,995 for a base LS to $40,995 for a top-spec SS.

Inside, the 2010 Camaro can carry four passengers in standard cloth or optional heated leather seats on LT and SS models. A tilt/telescopic steering wheel is standard, but added leather and redundant audio controls are part of an extra package that includes Bluetooth connectivity. XM Satellite Radio is standard across the board, but only higher trim levels can opt for an upgraded 245-watt Boston Acoustics nine-speaker audio system. Out back, there are 320 litres of trunk space.

Stability control and six airbags are standard. The stability control system on SS models has a very flexible sport mode which also closely regulates hard launches for maximum acceleration.

With expected competition from Ford and Dodge - and unexpected competition from the likes of Hyundai - the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro is arriving at dealerships now. The MSRP ranges from $26,995 for a base LS to $40,995 for a top-spec SS, all before options or delivery charges. A convertible version is also on the horizon.
