The
Kart-O-Mania indoor karting centre welcomed yesterday night several stars of the famous Formula 1 circus for a special karting event held just before the Canadian Grand Prix.
This annual event started in the 90s when Kart-O-Mania invited for the first time the mechanics, engineers and drivers of the Minardi team to have some fun racing go-karts just before the GP. Every year since then, several members of that Formula 1 team - renamed Toro Rosso - enjoy some good time at the wheel of Thomas Schüller's go-karts.
Yesterday, some 40 people showed up for the event at the karting centre, located on De la Savanne street in Montreal. Formula 1 drivers Sebastian Vettel and
Tonio Liuzzi arrived along with staff members of the Toro Rosso and Ferrari teams. Scuderia Ferrari's race strategist Luca Baldisseri impressed with his extremely efficient driving style, typical of his former driver, Michael Schumacher.
In the finale, Vettel, Liuzzi, Schüller and young Quebec kart racer
Jesse Lazarre had a blast on the track, passing and re-passing each other with daring moves, and trading the fastest lap time of the race.
