Majorspeed.com driver Philip Major is back in action this weekend in rounds 9 and 10 of the Formula BMW USA series, which runs as part of the San Jose Grand Prix. There are just six rounds left this year in the 2007 Formula BMW USA series, and Major is confident heading into this weekend s street race at San Jose. San Jose is the only street circuit on the schedule this year.
I really like the street circuits like San Jose, The Autotecnica driver said. This is the second time I have raced here, and I like the track. It is very tough, and very demanding. On street circuits there is no room for errors they really test drivers.
With the knowledge gained from last year, Major thinks the key to a successful weekend is in qualifying. Street circuits are very difficult to pass on, Major said. It is critical that we have a great qualifying effort so we can start at the front. I am confident that my engineer Tristan, and I can come up a good setup for qualifying, and that will help us have a good weekend in San Jose.
Two practice sessions will be held on Friday, July 27 at 8:00 8:30 a.m. and 3:20 3:50 p.m., with Round 9 qualifying set for 5:20 5:50 p.m. Saturday, July 28 will see Round 10 qualifying at 11:50 12:20 p.m. followed by the Round 9 race at 3:20 4:05 p.m. On Sunday July 29, shortly after a 15-minute morning warm-up at 8:00 a.m., the Round 10 race will begin at 9:55 a.m.
