2009 Triumph Street Triple R Preview

1-28-2009

by Marc Cantin , moto123.com

The Triumph Street Triple, a naked and slightly down-level version of the Daytona 675, hit the market in 2008 and quickly became a best seller, combining performance with the unique feel and handiness of the 675cc triple, and looks to kill for. The market wants exciting naked bikes and it worked!

The base Street Triple returns for 2009, but it now gets a big brother, the Street Triple R, which comes with the full house components of the new 2009 Daytona 675: adjustable (damping and preload) suspension, radial mount front calipers, and the same engine level of tune as the big brother Daytona 675 - all the better for the street as well as track days.

With availability planned for the first quarter of 2009, the standard 2009 Street Triple will still be sold at an MSRP of $9,699, while the R version MSRP is pegged at $10,499. Those who rode the prototype R mention that they would get an R even at twice the price increase- it is that good!
