by Guillaume Rivard , moto123.com

A flagship model in the company's performance lineup, the muscular 2014 Sea-Doo RXT-X aS 260 is a three-passenger personal watercraft designed for exceptional off-shore fun. It offers size, speed, strength, and stability in the roughest conditions, not to mention a fully adjustable suspension with high-performance FOX shocks allowing you to customize your ride.

Superior control and peace of mind starts with Intelligent Brake & Reverse (iBR), which allows you to stop up to 100 feet sooner than with any other personal watercraft, the company says. Plus, the separate levers let you keep both hands on the handlebars at all times. iBR makes docking much easier, too.

The 2014 Sea-Doo RXT-X aS 260 is powered by a high-output Rotax 4-TEC engine. This 1,494cc supercharged and intercooled powerplant not only provides quicker acceleration and a higher top speed, but also works hand-in-hand with ride-by-wire Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC) for more precise engine calibration and better fuel economy (Eco mode included). By the way, premium gas is recommended but not required.

At speed, you can choose between different operating modes (Touring and Sport) at the touch of a button, and also adjust the Variable Trim System (VTS) for fine-tuned handling based on your preferences, water conditions, and number of passengers. Three-position adjustable rear sponsons improve cornering performance: Set them higher for a more playful freeride experience or lower for more aggressive turning.

The unique bow stabilizers also deserve praise as they provide lateral stability and improve steering in rough water conditions as well as anti-dive. At the same time, adjustable trim tabs limit bow rise and improve parallelism to water.

Other 2014 Sea-Doo RXT-X aS 260 highlights
Can it get more extreme than that? Sure. The standard X-Package includes the aforementioned VTS, plus X-Steering (so you can adjust handlebar width and grip angle), an X-Gauge featuring a speedometer, lap timer and boost indicator, and finally the race-inspired X-Seat with a gradually narrowing design (to better connect the rider to the watercraft).

Sea-Doo's renowned S³ hull is the first and only one of its kind. Its stepped design reduces drag, yet stays glued to the water for a stable and consistent ride. According to Sea-Doo, the material of the S³ hull is up to 20% lighter than competitors while remaining incredibly strong due to its ribbed construction.

The 2014 Sea-Doo RXT-X aS 260 also comes with a ski tow eye, digital information centre, touring-style hinged seat that conveniently lifts up for easy access to the engine, wide-angle, adjustable mirrors that ensure better visibility, Off-Throttle Assisted Steering (OTAS) which improves manoeuvrability in off-throttle situations, and a Digitally Encoded Security System (DESS) preventing unauthorized use. Let's not forget the exclusive D-Sea-Bel sound reduction system that makes Sea-Doo watercraft among the quietest on the water.

The 2014 Sea-Doo RXT-X aS 260 starts at $18,499. You can add options such as a depth finder, fold-down re-boarding step, cruise control, and more.
