Rec Boat Holdings, maker of Four Winns, Glastron, and Wellcraft boats, enters the jet-boat segment by reviving an iconic name with a tremendous heritage in the marine industry.

The all-new 2014 Scarab 195, which made its world debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in Florida last October, may not appeal strongly to hardcore performance boaters; however, it will certainly attract boaters who want a sporty, aggressively styled bowrider with peppy performance and a family-and-friends layout (max eight passengers).

With a choice of three models based on a 19' platform, the company has strategically built a series of jet boats that will target a broad range of enthusiasts.

The standard 2014 Scarab 195 (base MSPR: $30,342 USD) is an affordable runabout with rich interior appointments designed to attract the new jet buyer. It's powered by a naturally aspirated, 1.5L 3-cylinder Rotax 1503 SC 4-TEC engine that produces 200 hp. It features premium upholstery with metallic accents and chrome logos, exclusive Versa-Lounge convertible seating with three different seating configurations, dual ComfortRide captain's chairs, a wide bow with excellent legroom, and a swim platform with a reboarding ladder.

Customers can add options such as a Bimini top, depth sounder, cruise control, and a custom swim platform mat.

Delivering more performance and luxury, the 2014 Scarab 195 HO ($36,096 USD) comes standard with a 250-hp turbocharged Rotax 1503 SC 4-TEC engine, a Bimini top, stainless steel cup holders and grab handles, and pull-up cleats. It can be optioned with a sound system, cruise control, a folding wakeboard tower, and multi-mode Digital Ride Management, among other features.

These first two models are available in Jet Black or Pacific Blue.

Finally, the 2014 Scarab 195 HO Impulse ($39,452 USD) will tug at the inner youth of every boating enthusiast. Exciting graphics and exclusive design elements including three vibrant colours -- Laser Red, Vivid Green, and Sunburnt Orange -- give it the ability to capture attention anywhere. It also features a folding wakeboard tower with Bimini top, cruise control, a depth sounder, and a custom swim platform mat.

All 2014 Scarab 195 models boast a sports car-inspired gauge cluster and tilt steering wheel, a ski locker and ski tow, as well as a smartly designed hull with Sea-Doo DNA that incorporates strake-like tunnels and steps to help provide quick planing and precise handling.

Weighing 1,179 kg (2,600 lbs), this new jet boat will prove easy to tow thanks to Scarab's custom trailer with chrome wheels and swing-away tongue.

The closest competitors of the 2014 Scarab 195 (base model) include the Glastron GTS 187, as well as the Yamaha AR192 and SX190.
