After winning the World Superbike Championship in 2012, Aprilia keeps pushing the technology envelope in 2013 with a new ABS-equipped version of the famous RSV4 Factory APRC.

In an effort to maximize rider safety, the Italian manufacturer's ultimate superbike comes standard with highly advanced ABS designed and developed in collaboration with Bosch to guarantee not only maximum safety on the road, but also the best performance on the track.


The system (weighing in at just 2 kg) can be disengaged and adjusted to three different levels through the control menu: Track, Sport, and Rain. Unlike the BMW S1000RR HP4's, which governs only the front wheel in Slick mode, the ABS on the 2013 Aprilia RSV4 Factory APRC controls both the front and rear wheels in all three modes.

Cutting-edge
The Brembo braking system features upgraded M430 monoblock calipers and a cutting-edge, WSBK-derived master cylinder. The icing on the cake comes from the possibility to adjust the position of the engine within the frame, as well as a different adjustment of the swingarm pivot, ensuring greater stability and control of the bike in more intense braking situations, according to Aprilia engineers.

The Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC) dynamic control suite has been further refined in order to adapt even better to the specific needs of enthusiasts on the street and professional riders on the track. Meanwhile, the 999.6cc V4 engine is said to deliver unique thrills and sound effects; it now produces 180 hp (+4) at 12,250 rpm, and 85 lb-ft of torque (+1) at a higher 10,500 rpm.

Close to perfection
The 2013 Aprilia RSV4 Factory APRC ABS has a larger, 18.5L tank (+1.5) whose shape has been redesigned to improve rider ergonomics -- a solution that was directly borrowed from Max Biaggi's championship-winning bike.

What a nice way to mark Aprilia's second WSBK title (and Biaggi's sixth). The evolution of the RSV4 Factory continues, subtly but surely, and nears perfection. We can't wait to try it out on the track this summer!
