Radical ergonomics
The Seventy-Two offers a single seat perched at just 676 mm off the ground, keeping the arms high and the chest upright. While relatively hard, it provides a comfortable shape for the 90-minute rides allowed by the small 7.9L fuel tank.
Overall, comfort levels are decent for a low-riding motorcycle. The short-travel rear suspension obviously takes a toll on your lower back when the road deteriorates. For a few extra dollars, however, Sportster buyers can select an adjustable air suspension kit from the Harley-Davidson accessories catalogue.
Born to be proud
With a compliant front fork and a top speed of 160 km/h, the 2012 Harley-Davidson Seventy-Two is mainly about cruising in style to the beat of a long-stroke V-twin. Colourful and captivating yet stripped down to the essentials, it's yours for a cool $11,919.
Pros
As much character as its larger siblings
Nimble and rider-friendly
Attractively styled
Cons
Firm rear suspension
Tiny fuel tank
