5-13-2011

by Pascal Bastien , moto123.com

What’s more, thanks to generous ground clearance and aggressive yet easy-to-manage Brembo brakes with optional ABS, sometimes it actually feels like you’re riding a superbike. Flash of genius here, guys. Why not create a Daytona 1050R Superbike based on the Speed Triple for next year?

Incisive, stable and easier to push to its limits, the new Speed Triple is even nimbler than its precursor. It also does admirably well in terms of comfort and ergonomics and as such is now well-suited to light touring duty.

Thanks in part to the rejuvenated frame, fantastic brakes and unique, charismatic engine, the Speed Triple shoots past the two Japs in the last corner and clinches this segment.

Plus
Powerful engine, intoxicating growl
Well-designed frame that ups the ante
Thrills and exclusivity guaranteed
Sportiest bike in the class

Less
Passenger position
Total lack of protection against the elements (without optional windscreen)
