Occupants are treated to well-padded and form-fitting seats, seat belts, safety nets and a passenger hand grip. Both driver and passenger enjoy a lot of room, and the dash features a 12-volt outlet and digital instruments, including a partial counter, a clock, a gear indicator and a fuel gauge.

Predictable behaviour
On the trail, the UXV 500i surprises you with its sporty antics and efficient suspension that gobbles up the worst bumps without unduly tossing you about. The first corners reveal a sluggish steering and wide turning diameter, however. On the flip side, said steering requires very little input, an essential quality when hard work is required. The UXV 500i easily stays on course at high speeds and is equally easy to control on the drift. This puppy is a lot of fun!

The dual A-arm independent front and rear suspension systems have each received pre-load-adjustable shocks and half shaft protective boots. The UXV’s decent ground clearance allows you to attempt some bold manoeuvres, although the engine starts to puff a little when the incline is too steep. The aggressive tires and the considerable weight of the ute ensure better grip than an ATV. You quickly feel up to tackling the meanest trails, moving into attack mode and constantly testing the machine’s limits.

Though you can’t expect the 500-cc UXV 500i to compete with the industry’s heavyweights, its attractive pricing, choice equipment and numerous qualities make for a lot more bang for the buck. It will no doubt shake things up in an industry on the rise.
