2010 Harley-Davidson V-Rod First Impressions

4-2-2010

by Pascal Bastien , moto123.com

This `Rod gobbles up clicks at any speed, while twisties take some effort and vigilance before you can feel enough at ease to start throwing it around. Watch out for the dragging exhaust system, that wear out and may cause a fall if you lean over too far.

It's a beautiful motorcycle equally attractive to look at living. (Photo: Philippe Champoux/Moto123.com)

A valid par of the H-D range
This looker has a distinct role to play in the H-D product line, and it does it well. While it is not universally attractive, the V-Rod does appeal to a segment of riders, with fit, finish, that magical name, and enough performance to please.

Plus

Unique and attractive style
Modern and competent drivetrain
enjoyable riding position for the chosen

Minus
Throws off too much heat for the rider’s legs
Lack real torque at very low rpm
Fat rear tire that is happiest straight up, and does not like leaning
