2010 Kawasaki KX250F Preview

5-21-2010

by Pascal Bastien , moto123.com

Fine-tuned chassis
The KX250F’s aluminum perimeter frame is a lightweight assembly of forged, extruded and cast aluminum pieces, making it slim yet stiff enough to handle the killer torque hit from of the big cylinder. Every variable of the chassis has been fine-tuned to maximize grip and rideability on bumps and on hard corner exits (which is key for this type of machine). Changes were made to the frame size and geometry, spring and damping rates, swingarm geometry, chain positioning, and ground clearance.

Bottom line

Developed with the support of Kawasaki’s top factory riders, like Ryan Villopoto (who might have won the 2010 AMA Supercross Championship until he was injured), the KX250F appears sharper than ever. This bike inches closer to offering the kind of responsiveness and lightness that two-stroke motocrossers are famous for.

Despite fierce competition, Team Green’s newest dirt rocket will keep landing on the podium, thanks in great part to a more effective chassis and a stronger, feistier engine.
