by moto123.com

The 2008 Snowmobile Show was held a few weeks ago at Place Forzani, in Laval, Quebec. Winter sports enthusiasts were able to get a close look at the upcoming 2009 models from four different manufacturers. Here's a preview of the new 2009 Yamaha snowmobiles.

With their motorcycling expertise, Yamaha engineers are using different technologies than just about everyone else. The renowned Japanese manufacturer has become a master at designing 4-stroke engines for snowmobiles. For 2009, no less than 25 different models share a quartet of 4-stroke mills.

2009 Yamaha Nytro XTX

Nytro XTX
The new Nytro XTX goes in a whole new direction with its hybrid track. This machine will appeal to riders looking for a snowmobile that's nimble, efficient and fast in all conditions. It receives an all-new and unprecedented CK 144 rear suspension, the highlight of which is the ability to deliver optimum floatation in deep snow while also allowing active trail riding. Engineers tipped up the rail by 6 degrees, so when you ride on hardpack, the XTX will corner like a 121-inch sled. But as soon as you hit a series of bumps or pop off the trail, you'll benefit from the full 144 inches. Impressive!

Nytro RTX SE
Also new for 2009 is a special edition of Yamaha's thoroughbred, the Nytro RTX. Called SE, it gets a new color scheme with a one-tone windshield, not to mention a more sophisticated suspension. The company teamed up with suspension specialist Fox, which has long made a name for itself in the high-performance snowmobile industry. The 2009 RTX SE rides on new Fox Float X front air shocks with a remote reservoir to maintain cool operating temperatures. These shocks were specifically designed for extremely bumpy trails. Given the effectiveness of the Fox Float system, you can easily imagine how great this next generation will be.
