by Pascal Bastien , moto123.com

Kymco is now offering its most comprehensive lineup ever thanks to the addition of two all-new models that will surprise many people with their extensive list of standard features and can't-miss styling. One of them pioneers a new market segment: 200-cc urban scooters.

Sento 50
The 2009 Kymco Sento 50 arrives in Canada under the applause of traditional urban scooter enthusiasts. This new model from the Taiwanese manufacturer sports clean, retro-looking lines that will no doubt turn a lot of heads in the city.

The Sento takes on other 50-cc, 4-stroke scooters -- machines that are just powerful enough to ride downtown yet do not require a 6A-Class motorcycle rider's license. Teenagers age 15 and over can actually ride these scooters with a simple permit, available on demand without having to pass any exam. They enjoy a cheap, economic way of moving about, except on highways.

The excellent chassis of the Kymco Sento 50 includes 12-inch aluminum wheels, a front disc brake with dual-piston caliper and a high-strength steel frame. The light weight of 89 kilos is a huge advantage in the city and during parking maneuvers. Overall, comfort and user-friendliness define this little marvel on two wheels that's bound to attract plenty of attention this summer.

Frost 200i
Virtually alone in its class, halfway between 125- and 250-cc models, the all-new 2009 Kymco Frost 200i offers an interesting approach to city commuting, where it has no problem keeping pace with the traffic. Featuring a flat floorboard, a generously-sized dual seat (with a small backrest and folding footpegs for the passenger) as well as a rear storage rack, this scooter proves comfortable and powerful enough to ride on high-speed boulevards and, most importantly, highways. Additionally, the comprehensive instrument panel, including a fuel gauge, digital speedometer and tachometer, is something we rarely see on 200-cc scooters and under.

Driven by a new 174.5-cc, fuel-injected engine that produces 14.7 horsepower, the 138-kilo Frost 200i boasts a favorable power-to-weight ratio that promises a nice riding feel and makes it realistically possible to go head to head with slightly more powerful albeit heavier 250-cc machines (170 to 200 kg).

The Frost 200i bridges the gap between Kymco's Bet&Win 150 and 250 models. It's a sporty, versatile and nicely-equipped scooter that displays a modern, well-executed style.
