2009 Ski-Doo MX Z X 1200 4-TEC First Impressions

4-13-2008

by Pascal Bastien , moto123.com

Accelerations are convincing regardless of engine speed, even without maximum throttle input. The CVT clutch of the MX Z X has a lot to do with it; engineers specially calibrated the unit for aggressive riders. Throttle response is instantaneous, to the extent that you need to get familiar with the engine in order not to cover your pursuers with snow. The initial thrust during takeoff easily exceeds anything you could expect. No matter what the engine speed and riding conditions are, this new DOHC engine is a relentlessly strong performer.

Thanks to a very sophisticated electronic fuel injection system and highly effective emission control technologies, the Rotax 1200 4-TEC is the cleanest engine in the entire industry with an EPA rating for 4-stroke engines at 0. Yet, the exhaust note is pleasant enough to excite the senses.

The 1200 4-TEC engine is amazing, both performancewise and emissionwise.

Ultra lightweight chassis

The innovative REV-XP chassis is one of the lightest in the business. Actually, the 2009 MX Z X benefits from a new variant called REV-XR, which was specifically designed to accommodate the 1200 4-TEC engine. As a result, the snowmobile drops to 231 kilos (509 pounds), which is about 35 kilos less than some rivals. Impressive!

At last, BRP offers a high-performance, 4-stroke powered sled that can take on the world's best. With a host of unique features and a lower weight than most competitors, it will satisfy those looking for a sporty touring snowmobile with an adrenaline-inducing, 4-stroke engine.
