Hitting bigger bumps and crossing tire ruts sideways allowed me to appreciate the sizeable ground clearance of this machine (32 centimeters) and its excellent 4WD system.  I could also assess how much more rollover-prone this tall vehicle is compared to ATVs. The protection bars will  protect occupants in case of a flip but make no mistake -  this is not a sport ATV!

Nicely equipped
With regard to functionality, the XT 700 H1 EFI offers a front storage compartment large enough to fit two full-face helmets, a glove box, a grab handle and a pair of cup holders. There's also a tilt-able cargo box with a 270 kg payload capacity, not to mention a Class-3 receiver hitch. This equipment will come in quite handy for hunting, fishing or heavy duties.

The comprehensive instrument panel includes a fuel gauge, a digital odometer, indicators for 2WD/4WD and differential lock, as well as two 12-volt power outlets. Seat comfort is average at best, although the wide cushions and adjustable seat belts accommodate passengers of all shapes and sizes.

Bottom line
Arctic Cat designed the 2009 Prowler XT 700 H1 EFI as a strong, well-equipped utility machine offering above-average cargo capacity and enough power to make the riding experience truly pleasant. It's a fun and practical performer down on the farm or around the chalet.
