2008 Victory Vision Tour First Impressions

6-12-2008

The seat is actually the lowest in the category, which helps deliver rider-friendly handling at low speed, in the city and during parking maneuvers. One really feels at ease on this bike; it's almost as if you had been riding it forever, which is a pretty rare attribute. What's more, there's no need to install side protection bars, as the fairing of the Vision Tour already benefits from reinforcements to protect your investment in the event of a fall at very low speed.

This twin-cylinder mill is ultra-smooth and quiet.

Modern powertrain
The 2008 Victory Vision Tour is powered by a revised 1,731-cc 50-degree V-twin. To get such a high displacement, engineers increased the stroke by 6 millimeters for a total of 102. The air/oil-cooled engine uses an electronic fuel injection system featuring dual 45-millimeter throttle bodies. It generates 92 horsepower and 109 pounds-feet of torque, easily enough to pull this 385-kilogram mastodon with enthusiasm. Initial accelerations are decent, while mid-range power allows sports car-like passing maneuvers.

Spirited and relentless with other Victory models, this twin-cylinder mill is, conversely, ultra-smooth and quiet with the Vision Tour. A specific exhaust system and new engine mounts designed to minimize unwanted vibrations are greatly responsible. Likewise, the transmission has been specially calibrated for the Vision. The first gear is very low to make low-speed riding easier, while the sixth gear keeps the engine under 2,500 rpm at cruising speed.

The suspension system, which consists of a traditional fork and a single adjustable air shock, provides excellent ride comfort yet it's firm enough to ensure stability for this big machine. It should be noted that the Vision Tour is built on an aluminum frame, something few other rivals can brag about. The frame integrates two aluminum fuel tanks totalling 22.7 liters.
