Yoshimura Suzuki Selling Mat Mladin's Current Superbike

4-2-2009

by Marc Cantin , moto123.com

Too good (Or cheap) to be true? As Yoshimura Suzuki will be switching to 2009 models for the next AMA race, Mat Mladin's current racer, a 2008 GSX-R1000 Superbike will be sold off the back of the hauler, right after the Superbike race this coming Sunday in Road Atlanta.

An email from Yoshimura quotes an asking price of $59,000 (US) for the machine, taken from a stable of three similar bikes that have won three out of three AMA Superbike races so far in 2009.

Tommy Hayden at Daytona this year on sister GSX-R1000 to Mladin's.

Yes the price is low, much less than it really costs to develop and build it, but you really need two of them and a lot of parts to put on a serious effort, so we are looking at a cool $150,000 for a realistic effort, plus the hauler, shop and tools of course.

And your rider will know that the bike is a proven winner, so how come he is not up front? Kind of like watching Valentino Rossi make a fool of you in a MotoGP race! But worst of all, Yoshimura are not selling the knowledge and the people who developed the machine and kept it up front all these years. And forget about the funky "stock" parts that got them in such deep yogurt last year.

Sure looked attractive at first glance though!
