The event, named for the legendary journalist, will be part of the WPSA's Regional Tour, and will be held at Spirit Mountain in Duluth, Minn.

"CJ Ramstad was a pioneer in the coverage of snowmobiling and Snocross racing, and was instrumental in helping to bring it from a small, regional sport to what it is today," said PowerSports Entertainment, Inc. CEO Rick Murphy. "We're proud to present this race as a fitting tribute to CJ and his accomplishments for the sport."

"CJ's contributions to the sport of Snocross racing and the snowmobiling industry were legendary, and we're privileged to host a race in his honor," said Renee Appel Mattson, director of Spirit Mountain. "This marks the perfect and most appropriate way for us to finish up the 2007-2008 Snocross season. We're looking forward to a great race."

Along with his journalistic and photographic work for Snow Week, SnowGoer, Minnesota Snowmobiling, All-Terrain Vehicle and Minnesota Off-Road, Ramstad was also a well-known and respected author. He wrote several books, including the "Arctic Cat Legend,""Of Ice and Engines," "The Collected Works of Pappy" and many others. He was owner of MSPN publications and owner/editor of Supertrax magazine. Ramstad was killed, along with his son JJ, in May in an automobile accident just outside Minneapolis.
