Ross Martin counted lady luck on his side Saturday after winning the WPSA PowerSports Snowmobile Tour Pro Stock race, part of the AMSOIL Duluth National. Martin (No. 837 Judnick Motorsports/Polaris) avoided a massive, multi-sled tangle at the start of the 16-lap race, and held off a charging Mike Schultz (No. 5 Parts Unlimited/Polaris) to net the victory, his first at Duluth.

Schultz held on to second, while Garth Kaufman (No. 48 Arctic Cat) won a hard-fought battle with Blair Morgan (No. 7c Blair Morgan Racing/Ski-Doo) to round out the podium.
"I couldn't have started the season off any better," said Martin, who finished second in last season's Pro Open and Pro Stock Riders' Championships. "Qualifying was a little tough, but the race is what matters.
"Second felt really good last year, but second, really, is just the first loser," added Martin. "This win is a great start, and, hopefully, we can do it this season."
Martin battled Dave Allard (No. 167 Blair Morgan Racing/Ski-Doo) up the hill on the start, when Allard and several other riders collided. Martin barely escaped the melee, and led every lap.
"I was about half a length behind Allard, and then, all of the sudden, everyone to the right of me was taken out," said Martin. "They just piled in behind me, but I was lucky to get out of it in front.
"I knew Schultz was close at the end," added Martin. "But, I knew I could hold him off for the win."
Results will be available later today at www.PowerSportsTour.com.
The Pro Open final is scheduled for later today at 3 p.m. CST. A special, non-points X Games 11 event is scheduled for tomorrow, with racing action starting at 9:30 a.m.
