WPSA: PowerSports Snowmobile Tour Issues Penalties

TECHNICAL DISQUALIFICATIONS ISSUED AT BRAINERD

Junior 8-10 (300cc) rider Nicholas Vaage (No. 961 Brewster's Sea Ski/Ski-Doo) and Semi-Pro Stock racer Andrew Johnstad (No. 255 Avalanche Racing/Polaris) were disqualified Saturday after their sleds failed post-race inspections at the Polaris BIR Championship at Brainerd International Raceway. The double national event represents Rounds 2 and 3 of the 2006-2007 WPSA PowerSports Snowmobile Tour.

Vaage finished first in the Junior 8-10 final. The disqualification moves Tyler Adams (No. 705 StickerDude Racing/Ski-Doo) to first place in the final. Johnstad's disqualification moves Paul Bauerly (No. 324 FLY Racing/Ski-Doo) to third in the Semi-Pro Stock final.

Yesterday's race will be telecast on SPEED on Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. EST, and will re-air on Feb. 7 at 3 a.m. Sunday's event will be telecast on Feb. 7 at noon EST, followed by the re-air Feb. 15 at 2 p.m.

The Polaris BIR Championship, which marks the first visit of WPSA's national Snocross Tour to Brainerd International Raceway, is scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 12-14. Racing gets underway at 8 a.m. each day.
