Duluth, Minn. native Carl Schubitzke took the top qualifying position Friday for tomorrow's Pro Stock final at the WPSA PowerSports Snowmobile Tour Polaris BIR Championship at Brainerd International Raceway.

Duluth, Minn. native Carl Schubitzke took the top qualifying position Friday for tomorrow's Pro Stock final at the WPSA PowerSports Snowmobile Tour Polaris BIR Championship at Brainerd International Raceway. Schubitzke (No. 6 APV Lubricants/Arctic Cat) beat out Steve Martin (No. 18 Dodge Trucks/Ski-Doo) and TJ Gulla (No. 44 Pirtek/Polaris).
Tucker Hibbert, from Goodridge, Minn., won the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) to transfer into the final aboard the No. 68 Monster Energy Drink/Arctic Cat. French Canadian rider Dave Allard (No. 167 Blair Morgan Racing/Ski-Doo), Scandia, Minnesota's Justin Tate (No. 28 Pirtek/Polaris), Shaun Crapo (No. 3 AMSOIL/Polaris), and Garth Kaufman (No. 48 Star Performance, Inc./Arctic Cat) also transferred.
Defending Pro Open and Pro Stock Riders' Champion Robbie Malinoski (No. 4 Boss Racing/Yamaha) gave Yamaha its first heat victory of the season Friday. Malinoski, teamed with Japanese rider Yuji Nakazawa, is leading Yamaha's return to Snocross racing this season in the Pro Open class.
Joseph Fallen (No. 127 Scott/Polaris) won the Sport Stock final and Derek Ellis (No. 106 Woody's/Polaris) was the Sport Open victor. Full results are available at PowerSportsTour.com.
The Brainerd double national Snocross event will continue tomorrow, with Pro Stock and Open finals, as well as action in the Pro Veteran, Pro Women, and amateur classes. The event concludes Sunday with a second round of Pro Stock and Pro Open finals, and Semi-Pro racing.
Saturday's race will be telecast on SPEED on Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. EST, and will re-air on Feb. 7 at 3 a.m. Sunday's event will be telecast on Feb. 7 at noon EST, followed by the re-air Feb. 15 at 2 p.m.
The Polaris BIR Championship, which marks the first visit of WPSA's national Snocross Tour to Brainerd International Raceway, is scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 12-14. Racing gets underway at 8 a.m. each day.
