The double national Snocross event kicks off today with Pro qualifying, as well as amateur racing, and will continue through the weekend, with Pro finals both Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday's race will be telecast on SPEED on Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. EST, and will re-air on Feb. 7 at 3 a.m. Sunday's event will be telecast on Feb. 7 at noon EST, followed by the re-air Feb. 15 at 2 p.m.

An estimated 20,000 tons of snow were used to create the 50-foot-wide track, which is the largest Snocross track ever built here. The Snocross track is just adjacent to BIR's road course and drag racing facilities.

The Polaris BIR Championship follows a successful Minnesota Regional WPSA event, held last weekend.

"With our regional race last weekend, and temperatures hovering in the single digits, our snowmaking crew has been able to make more than enough snow for a thrilling Snocross event," said PowerSports Entertainment, Inc. Executive Vice President of Operations Kent Lungstrom. "This is truly a historic weekend. It will feature two complete professional shows, and will be exciting for fans of all ages. We're ready to go racing!"

Great tickets are still available and can be purchased at the gate.

The Polaris BIR Championship, which marks the first visit of WPSA's national Snocross Tour to Brainerd International Raceway, is scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 12-14. Racing gets underway at 8 a.m. each day.
