Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner ready to start their little war in Qatar

4-8-2010

by Marc Cantin , moto123.com

The 2010 MotoGP season is kicking off this weekend in Qatar and promises some exciting battles, both on the track and in the pits. The evening race will surely see a fierce duel between Casey Stoner, undefeated on this track since 2007 and in the best shape of his life, and the indomitable Valentino Rossi, himself on a quest for yet another world title, his eighth, as well as a 104th GP victory.

The American whirlwind touches down
Other forces to be reckoned with are expected from the Yamahas ridden by the twin Texas whirlwind Edwards/Spies, a bloodthirsty, Ducati-riding Hayden, finally at the forefront and with everything to prove on his sleek Italian steed, the Hondas of Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso, supported by a team largely made up of members that defected from other organizations and who absolutely have to do better this year.

The wild card, Jorge Lorenzo
With an injured hand, Lorenzo couldn’t give his best during the pre-season trials, but the Spaniard will still attempt to make the most of a race where he can’t afford to sacrifice too many points. He has nothing less than the World Championship in his sights, i.e., he’s looking to beat Vale, his official Yamaha teammate.

So the table is set for the 2010 season, which promises to be a barnburner. We’ll keep you posted!
