Stoner still the One

2-18-2008

by Luc Fradette

From MotoGP files

Australian Casey Stoner was on top at the qualifying session in Spain on Sunday.

Te MotoGP Champion had even a 1.3 seconds advantage on the runner-up. Track conditions were not at their best, and Stoner set his best time early in the session. Stoner was rewarded with a brand new BMW road car.

His nearest challenger was Valentino Rossi who could only get within 1.317 seconds with a late-lap effort. Nicky Hayden of the Repsol Honda team ended up third quickest, with Anthony West taking fourth for Kawasaki Racing.

The injured Dani Pedrosa abandoned testing completely, though, with the swelling from his injured hand having not subsided as much as he would have liked.
