Stoner injured in Jerez

11-28-2007

by Luc Fradette

Italian rider Dani Pedrosa moved on top of the standings after the second day of testing at the Spanish circuit of Jerez as MotoGP reigning world champion Casey Stoner was forced to finish his work early after a big crash.

The Ducati rider lost control of his bike at a high-speed corner and had to visit the medical centre. The Australian suffers from a shoulder injury and he will be out of commission for the rest of the week.

Repsol Honda rider Pedrosa was the only rider to lap the Spanish track in less then 100 seconds. The Spaniard finished not far ahead of the Italian Valentino Rossi, second quickest in the Yamaha as he continued his acclimatisation to Bridgestone tyres.

Shinya Nakano (Honda) and rookie rider Alex de Angelis (Honda), third and fourth quickest respectively delivered a solid performance for the Gresini team.

250cc class reigning world champion Jorge Lorenzo also crashed at high speed, but he was able to resume testing on his second machine.
